I did a vanity search on my name and was surprised by what I found. Over the years, especially in these last two, I have signed up with many new Web sites; I register, fill in the basic profile and then never go back. And whilst I may not remember, Google does for in the top ten results were 3 services that I used only once but the result was that my dead, uncompleted profiles appeared in the top ten results of the search. This doesn’t do me any good, neither is it much help for people who are looking for me and so I have deleted my accounts from the offending service.
The result now is that my (old) blog url is back on top, so hopefully when Google reindexes that should change. I think I may also have helped a namesake of mine, Tim Towle of Northern Alabama, also known as Magical Tim. Before I did this house cleaning I hadn’t seen him in the top ten before.
